Flannel Friday: Monster Lunch

I adapted (and by "adapted," I mean "changed 3 words of") this Marian Swinger poem for a not-so-scary flannel board rhyme. The monster is gigantic, he doesn't even fit on the travel board that I usually take pictures on. But his stomach had to be huge to fit everything he's going to devour for lunch.

Eventually, I'd like to make the pieces for Ed and Rebecca Emberley's There Was An Old Monster, but for right now check out the insane feast this guys about to chow down on.

This monster ate a MONSTER lunch

a monster pie, and monster punch

monster apple, monster plum

This monster filled his monster tum,

He licked a monster lollipop

And drank a bottle of monster pop

He chomped a monster chocolate cake

And got a MONSTER stomach ache!

And as a monster bonus, here are the pattern pieces for my version of Go Away Big Green Monster, one of my most popular and most used flannel boards, presented at 85% of their actual size. If you don't have one yet, I suggest you make it ASAP!

  1. I have no patience whatsoever with felt, but I love your monster lunch pieces so much, I am seriously considering making my own. Awesome job!

  2. I LOVE monster storytimes! They are second only to our pirate storytimes. Lol!

Your pieces of monster food are awesome. I am definitely adding this flannel and poem to my monster repertoire. Thank you for sharing it!

I highly recommend making the Emberley book into a set. Mine is magnetic but a flannel one would be beautiful. I'm just not as quick making things out of flannel as O am making them out of paper. :-/
Would to see your Emberley set when you make it!

    GREAT post!
